Phagans Clackamas Location to Add Night Classes

Phagans School of Hair Design will begin offering night classes at the Clackamas Town Center location in early 2012.

For many students night classes fill an important need. They provide students with time to work during the day and achieve their dreams after hours. We’ve been holding night classes at our Lloyd Center location for a number of years and asked a couple of night class students some questions about their experiences.

Marvin PerryName: Marvin Perry

Age: 46

What are you studying?
Hair Design

Do you work during the day?
Part time, while the weather permits.

Why did you choose the night program?
By going to school at night, I am allowed the opportunity to sustain a decent lifestyle by working part time and doing full time school at the same time.

What are some difficulties about going through the night program?
I don’t get to spend a lot of quality time with my family and friends; as well as my social life has shifted. There’s very little room for partying when going to night school!

What do you like about the night program?
I really appreciate being able to work at a pace that lets ME get the maximum out of the tools and techniques that our instructors provide us with.

What are you planning to do once you graduate and pass the state exam?
I am planning on pursuing a major loan and opening my own salon at some point in my future as well as remaining gainfully employed thanks due to Phagans School of Hair Design.

Name: Chelsea Monks

Age: 32

What are you studying?
Hair Design, Nail Technology and Esthetics

Do you work during the day?
Yes, I’m a salon receptionist.

Why did you choose the night program?
I needed to be able to keep my job. I’m a single mom and the night program made it so that I can work and still have my weekends free to spend with my children.

What are some difficulties about going through the night program?
Not enough time sometimes to get requirements done. We do things on each other when we can, but even then, sometimes it’s not enough time.

What do you like about the night program?
The people! I love the friends I’ve made – Ms. Lolita and Ms. Deb – they are amazing and I’ve learned so much from them!

What are you planning to do once you graduate and pass the state exam?
Either work as a stylist at my job or move to Texas to work. I’d love to do more platform work, though. I’ve done three photo shoots/fashion shows and I loved it!
